Thanks to the generosity of An American of Bavarian origin, Tiefenstein Castle is transformed into a music school whose main objective is to welcome first and foremost very gifted students. Business is so-so until the manager of the music school starts looking for a new music teacher to assist the whimsical Haberland, the appointed master. The spirited Peter Hagen, leader of a jazz band, responds to the recruitment ad placed by the manager. The job proves nothing of a pleasure cruise at first, but by dint of sustained efforts, the classical music school undergoes a metamorphosis to become a jazz-oriented one. To crown it all, a successful jazz band is created, thus saving Tiefstein Castle from announced bankruptcy.
