The newspaper in which Daffy reads about the escape of the Tasmanian Devil from the zoo also contains actual news stories from March 1956, including an article about President Eisenhower traveling to Bermuda for a meeting with British Prime Minister Harold Macmillan, a mass walkout by workers at the Chrysler Corporation and Israel protesting to the United Nations "against renewed attacks by marauders from the Gaza Strip."
When Daffy sings "When Irish Eyes are Smiling," Taz has a traditional Irish clay pipe, a duidin, between his teeth.
One of the few times (in the zoo scene) that actual human renderings are shown, without exaggerated caricature, apart from the zookeeper.
Daffy often refers to himself as a little black duck in the cartoons he's in. This is an actual breed, the American Black Duck, a dabbling duck similar to a Mallard, that he's referencing.
"Zookeeper Burton," mentioned by a radio announcer Daffy listens to, is probably a reference to Warner production manager John Burton. Even in the late 50s, the remnants of the old Termite Terrace gang were still calling their studio a "zoo."
