Though the setting is 1875 and Wyoming Rodock tells Steve that there are no Indians there any more. Considering that the biggest Indian war would take place the following year, the Great Sioux War (the Battles of Rosebud and Little Bighorn), that is a pretty incredible statement. In fact the cause of the war in 1876 was the establishment of the reservation in 1875 and the declaration that any Indian NOT on it by January 31, 1876 would be considered hostile and at war with the US. Therefore, the Lakota, Cheyenne, and Arapaho that went to war with the United States in 1876 did so because they were roaming free in Montana, Wyoming, and Colorado in 1875, contrary to Rodock's view's.
Night time scenes were filmed using a filter to darken scenes. BUT this technique left the sky blue when in fact the night sky is always black! Further, detail (distant, even close) is evident, when in fact it would, should fade, disappear, into the shadows and darkness of the background.
Jocasta wears extremely tight fitting dresses, with many small buttons going to the base of her neck. Yet with these types of dresses it would be impossible for her to get dressed by herself. But as she is the only woman on this ranch and as it is Victorian America the possibility of one of the ranch hands rendering her assistance is an impossibility. Therefore, the only way for her to have gotten any kind of assistance dressing was with the studio's wardrobe's hands, a position not to be found in 19th Century Western America.
