The last of the trio of shorts pairing Porky Pig and Sylvester together; the other two being Scaredy Cat (1948) and Claws for Alarm (1954).
Ten years after this short was produced, the color and body shape of the Jupiterian bird would serve as the inspiration for the TV incarnation of Dr. Seuss' Grinch.
The idea of aliens transporting a section of earth (and its inhabitants) would be seen in the 1964 Outer Limits TV episode, "A Feasibility Study," with much less humorous results. The 1997 Outer Limits series reboot also produced this episode, just as dramatically, in color.
The Jupiterian birds have more than a passing resemblance to the dodo bird from "Dough for the Dodo."
The soundtrack from the short was performed in the concert series "Bugs Bunny on Broadway".
