Summaries

  • In the western town of Silver Lode, Dan Ballard is arrested for murder and theft by marshals, but he denies the charges and searches for the real culprit as the townsfolk gradually turn against him.
  • Dan Ballard, a respected citizen in the western town of Silver Lode, has his wedding interrupted by four men led by Fred McCarty, an old acquaintance who, as a US Marshal, arrests Ballard for the murder of his brother and the theft of $20,000. Ballard seeks to stall McCarty while tracking down evidence that will prove his innocence: but the townspeople's loyalty to him gradually begins to waver under McCarty's accusations.—David Levene <D.S.Levene@durham.ac.uk>
  • With a warrant for the arrest of Dan Ballard, a respected local rancher of Silver Lode, vengeful Marshal Fred McCarthy, and his three deputies ride into the small town. As unsuspecting Dan is about to get married to beautiful Rose Evans, Fred's angry posse disrupts the wedding ceremony and the Fourth of July festivities, accusing him of having murdered his brother. Now, there is no turning back, and even though Ballard swears that he is innocent, McCarthy, who is bent on bringing him to justice, gives Dan two hours to take care of his affairs. Under those circumstances, much to his surprise, Dan comes to realise that his initially sceptical fellow citizens are turning against him, triggering an all-out manhunt in the name of truth and justice. But, in a tight-knit community of hostile friends, can once-beloved Dan manage to prove his innocence, and clear his name?—Nick Riganas
  • Dan Ballard's Fourth of July wedding to Rose is interrupted by the arrival of four men from Discovery. They claim to be U.S. Marshals with a warrant to arrest him for murder and robbery. Ballard denies the charges, and as their leader is the brother of the dead man he decides to make a stand. His erstwhile friends start to desert him until only Rose and an earlier flame, saloon girl Dolly, are left.—Jeremy Perkins {J-26}
