After Victor is whipped, he dons a shirt for the first and only time the next day, one supposes to hide the welts and cuts sustained in the scourging. The following day, he is sans shirt again, with no marks on his body from the severe whipping.
The same shot of a lion approaching is used when Scott is lion hunting and when Marian is threatened by one in the jungle.
The ship apparently rocks from side to side indicating a rough sea. However, in the dining room ,the water in the carafe and the wine in the glasses remains horizontal. The rocking motion is purely camera manipulation.
