Randolph Scott in Thunder Over the Plains (1953)

Goofs

Thunder Over the Plains

Edit

Continuity

When Captain David Porter finds Captain Bill Hodges making advances toward his wife, he has a vicious fight with his junior officer resulting in a bruised and bloody left cheek. The next day, however, the cheek appears to have healed overnight.

Revealing mistakes

At about the 1 hour 2 minute mark, when Porter is talking with Norah, the boom mic shadow moves on the wall to the left of Randolph Scott.

Miscellaneous

The bugler played Reveille instead of Call to Arms as ordered.

Anachronisms

Growing cotton and transporting cotton bales thru the hilly countryside was a foolish director's scheme. In 1869 cotton wasn't grown within 1,000 miles of this area.
The Cavalry men are seen using Colt Model 1873 pistols in a movie that takes place in 1869. This model was developed for the US Army in 1873. Civilian sales started in 1875, and the 4-3/4 barrel length wasn't available until 1877.
The film is set in 1869. Enlisted troopers are shown armed with Trapdoor Springfield Cavalry carbines. The carbine version of this rifle was not available before 1873.
