As the 4 women watch from the gate, 3 F-80 jets return, with their wing tanks, which had been dropped in combat. When they taxi to the gate, the wing tanks are gone.
At about Minute 16, the fighter pilots say good-bye to their wives before the mission. One says, "Ralph always comes back!" While bombing and strafing the NKs attacking Colonel Janowsky, Ralph is shot down. A moment later, Janowsky is hit. After being taken by prop plane to the hospital, getting treated, likely for many days, becoming ambulatory, and leaving with Mrs. Day, at about minute 48, they see the pilots' wives watch their husbands come back, except for Ralph. They should have returned within an hour or two, not the days it took for Janowsky to recover.

Live rounds are never used in movies. It puts lives in danger. But during the opening tank killing lesson, a semi-live bazooka round is used. It has live propulsion, but dud munitions. This way realistic flames shooting out of the back of the bazooka is achieved yet the crew have control over the special effect. The problem is, they did not actually figure out a way to lock the shell into the bazooka barrel. So it was actually a live firing of a dud-shell. This is why there is a huge plume of dust just prior to the tracks exploding. The marksman had to fire the dud round into the ground.
During an attack on enemy ground targets by American jets, witnessed by the main American characters, one jet is shot down. As it dives downwards, an explosion meant to represent the moment the plane hits the ground, takes place underneath it before it actually does so.
When the Col is standing in the hall in his underwear, he is wearing bright white boxers. At that time, close enough to WWII, the Army never issued white underwear. They issued brown or khaki. While officers were responsible for purchasing their own uniforms, they still had to conform to the same colors. And even if regulations had slacked by this point in time, it is probable that officers would have taken advantage of low prices and bought khaki underwear and socks at the base PX.
