Continuity

At 1:16:50, planes are seen flying off the USS Ticonderoga (CV-14) and return to land on the Princeton.

Factual errors

The pilots left the carrier in F4U Corsairs, and the first mission showed ordnance dropped by SB2C Helldivers and the landings were done showing F4F Wildcats with the 'after-landing' unmistakable wing-folding characteristic feature of the Wildcat. Some plane-to-plane shots showed the silhouette of the F4F very clearly.
LT JG Joe Rodgers wears the bars of a full lieutenant, not his listed rank.
In the first attack they show a plane dropping a torpedo. The squadron all flew F4U corsairs which did not carry torpedoes.
When Ensign Barney Smith comes aboard, he is flying an AD-1 Skyraider. This aircraft only first saw military action in Korea and was not a part of the military aircraft of WWII.

Revealing mistakes

Footage of F4U Corsairs and F6F Wildcats are used interchangeably throughout the film. For example when Kelly crashes the first shot is of a Corsair, then when it hits the flight deck its an F6. Then when they remove him from the wreckage its an F4 again.
Near the end of the first attack sequence an insect can briefly be seen crawling in the close-up shot on the glass canopy of a "flying" aircraft.

Anachronisms

The markings on the aircraft fuselages and wings are post war US Navy/Air Force markings. World War II US Navy/Army Air Force aircraft markings don't have the red stripe in the bars on each side of the star.
The landing Coordinator that waves of Rogers in the Corsair in 1944 and the F9F in 1950 is exactly the same guy - same age, uniform, hairstyle. Obviously, same footage was inserted twice.

Errors in geography

Although the squadron is supposedly providing ground attack and air cover for the 1944 invasion of the Philippines, some of the combat footage clearly shows Iwo Jima and Mt. Suribachi.
