Whilst Johnny is on the lam, there's a relentless heavy downpour. However, as Kathleen is looking for him during this time, there's no rain at all.
When Johnny falls from the car into the road, the first long shot shows him in sunlight near the middle of the road and opposite a gutter. A later shot shows him still in sunlight near the middle of the road, but he has now been moved back so he is opposite the intersecting road, so that when he rises he can run straight down that road.
When Johnny is resting in the snug, the saloon keeper brings him a glass of whiskey and leaves it on the table. However, later on, when Johnny starts regaining consciousness and spills the drink, it is now a glass of beer.
When the guard is killed, the orientation of his hand and gun changes from one shot to the next.
When Johnny's three friends are fleeing the police, they run into a little square with a grocer's shop. The shop and the windows above it are lit up. As they run past it, a blind in the left-hand upper window is pulled down. Later, when Dennis tries to draw the police away from Johnny, he runs past the same shop. It can be seen that the blind is now back up again.
The car/taxi number-plates are English. There have never been three-letter/three-digit number plates in either part of Ireland.
The aim of the IRA was and is a 32-county Irish Republic. But no Irish Republican in the 1940s would have thought this could be negotiated for. And they had no interest in lesser demands.
In the two old ladies' home, the cuckoo clock pendulum isn't moving.

When Rosie states that she read in a newspaper that Johnny had been shot before he got away, the time on her clock is about 7:15 p.m. The mill robbery happened at the stroke of 5:00 p.m. Nearly all of the businesses, including new stands, seen during the interim were closed (no lights on in the dark). No newsboys were seen on the street. Two hours seems insufficient time for a reporter to gather the facts, get back to the newspaper office, write the story, have it typeset and printed and distributed and read, especially at dinnertime.
When the two ladies bring in McQueen to tend to him (thinking that he has been hit by a truck), one of them cuts up the arm of his coat, while being told that she is ruining the man's coat. Then she tries to take the coat off, after ruining it, and finds out that he's been shot. Then she needlessly bandages up his arm, onto which he had been bleeding from his shoulder wound, even though there is no injury on his arm.
When Johnny falls out of the car, a dog starts chasing him for several blocks. However, when the dog catches up to him, he runs past him instead of staying behind him, or stopping chasing him, or attacking him.
