The size and shape of the mousehole changes between long shots and close up.
Two car chases occur: one with a policeman chasing Dill, and another with gangsters chasing him. In each chase, which are at least five weeks apart, they pass down the same road with cars parked in their same positions. Obviously both were shot on the same day.
The newspaper headlines and stories that appear after Big Nick's body is found spell his surname "Maronie" whereas the ones that appear after his funeral spell it as "Moronie".
Supposedly taking place circa 1931, the film makes no attempt at period style or decor and sinks into a sea of anachronisms. All the women's clothes and hair styles as well as musical arrangements are contemporary 1947; the automobiles, though pre-war, are also of a much later vintage, mostly late 1930s and early 1940s.
