Trivia | The houses used for exteriors in this film belonged to director Lloyd Bacon and were located at #3 (Sanford home) and #5 (Carstairs home) Toluca Estates Drive in North Hollywood, CA. A temporary false front was added to #5 to simulate a second story for the Carstairs home. Both houses were rented to the studio at $1.00 each for 30 days. See more » |

Quotes |
Sgt. O'Hare:
Mrs Carstairs, the Lieutenant here is a great admirer of your books. Dinah Carstairs: Oh really, which one did you like best Lieutenant? Lt. Bill Smith: [discomfited] Er...... ..latest one, Mrs Carstairs. I thought it was excellent. Dinah Carstairs: Oh, so you liked the Maltese Falcon? Lt. Bill Smith: Yes, yes, that's the one. Dinah Carstairs: Lieutenant, that was written by Dashiell Hammet, about twelve years ago. I don't think you've ever read any of my books. Lt. Bill Smith: [sheepish] I'm afraid you're right. Sgt. O'Hare: Not being a married man, Mrs Carstairs, the Lieutenant ain't a very convincing liar! See more » |
