Johnny in the Clouds (1945)

Goofs

Johnny in the Clouds

Edit

Continuity

the camera follows a car down Bedale high street a farmer passes in front of the camera then the car is at Northallkerton some good few miles away,

Revealing mistakes

Both footage clips of the B-17 landing, and later in flight show that the film has been reversed. This is easily spotted as the aircraft codes and fin unit identification letter are back to front.
The American airman aren't promoted in the course of the film, which is a little over a year. For example, John Hollis was a Captain in 1942 and still a Captain in 1944. With his alleged experience he would easily be a major, maybe a Colonel. The same goes for Hollis's bombardier. He would be a Captain and the lead bombardier in the group. This was depicted in the 1949 film "Twelve O'Clock High".

Anachronisms

As the American pilot alights to join the first US bombers leaving to bomb the Nazis on "Aug. 17" (1942) his Mae West is visibly stenciled: "Insp 5/3/44" .

Errors in geography

A car is driven along the High Street in Bedale turns a corner and is in Northallerton High Street some 9 miles away,
