While he is at the graveyard, a masked figure rides by and shoots at him. A few days later,Steve sees Lucky and recognizes the horse he is riding as the one ridden by the masked shooter. Speculating that Lucky's father, Wilford Barnet (Gordon De Main),is really Billy the Kid, Steve confronts him and his daughter,Carol Barnet (Marcella Martin), and Barnet, who has since turned respectable , admits his guilt. However, a gunman, Dave Sherlock (Clancy Cooper), informs his pals the whereabouts. Meanwhile, Steve arrests Lucky, suspecting him of involvement in the stagecoach robbery. In order to clear his son, Barnet buckles on his six-guns and goes after the gang, intending to make their confession clear Lucky. He is ambushed and is forced into a mountain cabin completely surrounded by the Sherlock gang.
