The producers' reaction to the gag of Bugs responding to a hunter pointing a gun at him with a confident casual remark, "What's up, Doc?" was so favorable that they decided to make that a standard element of future films featuring the character.
This cartoon is considered the first to feature both Bugs' and Elmer's catchphrases - "What's Up, Doc?" and "Be vewy quiet...I'm hunting wabbits", respectively.
The first cartoon with Bugs Bunny in his final redesign. Also the first real teaming of Elmer Fudd and Bugs Bunny.
When Elmer Fudd name-drops four famous actresses popular at that time (Hedy Lamarr, Barbara Stanwyck, Rosemary Lane, and Olivia de Havilland), original prints of the cartoon actually had actress Carole Lombard as the second name that he mentions. However, after Lombard's untimely death in 1942, her name was overdubbed with that of Stanwyck. Modern DVD releases have gone back to using the original name.
