Ferdinand Marian and Bruno Rehak in Jud Süß (1940)

Goofs

Jud Süß

Edit

Factual errors

At the end of the movie Oppenheimer prayed to let him life by taking his fortune but it was declined. In real life the judges offered him to become Christian what he declined. Instead he was praying the Schma Jisrael, a verse from the daily prayer from the Thora.
In the movie Oppenheimer is leasing streets and is raising many new taxes. In real life he was creating fortune for the state of Württemberg by leasing the "Stuttgart State Coin", made lottery games and helped in justice problems.
Unlike portrayed in the movie Oppenheimer was adjudged only for his financial deeds, not for having sexual intercourse with a Christian woman. Furthermore it is historically proofed that Oppenheimer had never any sexual relationship to a non-Jewish woman, which however was an antisemitic cliché years before the situation.
The permission for all Jews to enter Stuttgart didn't exist. Oppenheimer only had temporary permission for two business men to enter Stuttgart. The scene with the opened city gate through which many Jews enter the city is pure fictitious for propaganda.
In the movie Oppenheimer commands to violent measures against revolutions and even commands to beat Faber. Not only was the real Oppenheimr an opponent against the torture punishment, he would also not have the right to torture the son of a noble family.

Revealing mistakes

When Aktuarius lays the dead body of Dorothea on the doorsteps and puts his head on her chest, her right eyelid clearly moves for a few seconds.
