Judy Garland and Mickey Rooney in Babes in Arms (1939)

Goofs

Babes in Arms

Edit

Continuity

Mickey is handed a cigar by the butler during the dinner party with Rosalie. Just before he gets up from the dinner table, he puts the cigar down but in the next shot he still has the cigar in his hand and has to put it down again.
Henry Hull's character is listed as "Madox" in the on-screen cast list. However, the name is spelled "Maddox" when it is shown a few times, for example on the theater signs and his office door.
(around 52 mins 43 seconds) When Mickey is telling Pat about becoming an understudy, he places his hand on her left shoulder pulling back her sweater to reveal a bow that's pinned on her dress. The bow stays visible even after he pulls back his hand. However, on the very next edit when they walk away, the bow is no longer visible.
(around 50 mins 32 seconds) When Mickey approaches the stage during rehearsal, there is a long shot of two kids sitting with their arms flat on the table and a hat between them. But when it cuts to a close up of Mickey with the kids, the kids are now resting on their elbows and the hat has changed location.

Revealing mistakes

Obvious stand-in for Patsy as they climb the ladder during "[We Are] Babes in Arms" at the beginning of the film.
In the "(We Are) Babes In Arms" number, Molly Moran misses her step, and excuses herself from the marching line, but is back in the line, not missing a beat, in the next shot.
When the pages of 'Variety' flip over in the first few minutes of the film, the headline changes from San Francisco to Vancouver to New York, but the articles are exactly the same on each page.

Audio/visual unsynchronised

During the girls' duet, Patsy Barton begins her solo, and Mickey Moran switches from cello plucking to piano thumping. However, the music continues as it was before, and we don't hear any amazing sounds on the piano in spite of Mickey's efforts.
When Judy Garland & Betty Jaynes are singing their duet, there is part of one line where Judy's lips aren't moving but you can hear her singing. You can see her singing "We're really..." and then the view changes and there's a close-up of the two girls. As they sing the words "...just like...." Judy's lips aren't moving and she's just staring straight at the camera. Then she continues lip-syncing "...two peas in a pod..."
