Rosella Towne in The Adventures of Jane Arden (1939)

Goofs

The Adventures of Jane Arden

Edit

Continuity

When you first see the name Carlton Apts on Ed Tower's building; it is a close-up of the lettering which is on a small square piece of stone with indentations on the bottom and top as well as located on the side of the building. But on the following cut after the two hoodlums kidnap Towers; the Carlton Apts sign is now located over the entrance on a much larger and plain surface.
When the car with George and Martha stops; George opens the door and keeps his hand on the handle. But on the next immediate cut; his hand is now off the handle and resting between his knees. Then on the next immediate shot after Martha climbs out of the car; his hand is back on the door.
When Jane Arden sits at the booth with Ed Towers; he places a newspaper on the table. But on the next cut as they walk toward a backroom; the newspaper is no longer there.
When Ed Towers is tied up in the apartment with the kidnappers; his hat is on the table. But earlier during the kidnapping; Towers had dropped his hat during the scuffle and it was left there.
When Vanders is in the horse carriage trying to escape and he pushes the driver out; the driver's hat flies to the right landing on the floor of the carriage and the driver falls out of the left side on to the ground. But on the next cut; the driver is lying on the ground with his hat next to him.

Revealing mistakes

When the salesman calls Albert Thayer to bring Arden to the office; Thayer tells him that he would see him in a few minutes. But on the following cut immediately after Thayer tells Vanders to go into another office; the salesman is knocking at the office door with Arden. Thayer did not call back the salesman to tell him to come to the office now therefore the salesman should not have been there nor should he have known when to come to the office.
When Jane Arden is reading the newspaper article about the Ed Tower's kidnapping; the article states that the police were summoned by Elmer Jones the colored elevator operator who witnessed the abduction. But earlier when Towers enters his building, he greets the elevator operator as Sam.
When Vanders is running away from Towers; he is shot in the back as he tries to board the plane. But as he falls backward there are no signs anywhere of a bullet entry.
When Ed Towers enters the building where he lives; he is greeted by the concierge in the lobby who is stationed at the switchboard. But the concierge then begins to abandon the lobby to operate the elevator for Towers. In a residential building with a concierge, the elevator duties would be handled by a different employee and the concierge would remain stationed in the lobby.

Crew or equipment visible

When Jane pulls the brakes of Vanders' carriage causing it to crash; you can see a crew person running to hide behind a tree.

Plot holes

When Towers enters his residence; there are a concierge and two men waiting for him in the lobby. The men didn't know anyone else in the building therefore in order for them to be allowed to wait in the lobby they had to have asked for Towers and been told he wasn't in. But the concierge greets Towers without mentioning that the two men are waiting for him.

Character error

When Ed Towers begins to stand up to leave the booth with Jane Arden; he grabs his hat with the left hand. But on the next cut as he is leaving the booth; he is now holding the hat with his right hand.
When Vanders calls Thayer from the ship and inquires where Towers lives; Vander echoes what he was just told by uttering, "Carlton Arms". But on the following shot when it shows the exterior of Tower's building; it reads Carlton Apts.
