Goofs

The Return of the Scarlet Pimpernel

Edit

Continuity

When Citizen Chauvelin is talking to Theresa Cobarrus; she has her hand fan opened and using it. However, in the next immediate shot, the fan is now closed.

Factual errors

In the shot after the guillotines, there is a close-up of the flag with the phrase LIBERTE EGALITE FRATERNITE. However, it is printed wrong. In France the E is accented thus it should be written as LIBERTÉ, ÉGALITÉ, FRATERNITÉ.

Anachronisms

The name "Brighton" dates from 1810. In 1792 the town was called "Brighthelmstone."

Character error

In the listing in The Gentlemen of Sussex - Mary le bone Cricket Club score card, number 1 is Sir Andrew Foulkes, whereas in the film's cast list he is shown as Sir Andrew Ffoulkes.
