We then meet four high school students who hang around together - and their four sets of parents: socialites too busy to care, a local businessman who's on civic committees and his wife, a belligerent pair, and a caring couple. As the four boys drift into petty crime, one set of parents figures out their son is about to get in serious trouble. - The MGM crime reporter introduces Judge Charles Edwin Marshall, who talks about the rise in crime by youth, most who came from respectable homes, but the crimes which are often largely fueled by parental neglect. He talks about the case of friends Henry, Rod, Jimmy and Tom, four such youth from four such families. They started out committing petty crimes graduating to more serious and violent crimes, with most of their parents oblivious to their son's activities. But when one father, Tom's, believes Tom might be involved in these reported activities, he begins to make an effort to be a larger part of Tom's life. The questions become whether this nurturing by Tom's father is enough to get him out of the life, and whether the four will remain in solidarity if faced with individual peril because of their crimes.—Huggo
