Summaries

  • Two screenwriters in a rut come up with a story idea starring a bankable cowboy and the baby of the studio's waitress.
  • Happy is the latest but unlikely movie star on contract at Royal Films. It is unexpected because he came to fame by chance in a perfect storm of problems that threatened to derail a movie production that was the final film on the contract of washed up cowboy actor Larry Toms, that was the least important of three current movies for producer C. Elliott Friday who was more concerned about his job and the fate of the studio itself, but arguably most importantly that the contract studio writers, the team of Bob Laws and J.C. Benson, were in a rut for an idea as a starring vehicle for Larry and his limited range, they more interested in causing havoc around the studio, especially on other productions, just to have a little fun. Things changed when Bob and J.C. met uneducated and simple minded commissary waitress Susie Seabrook, who became their muse. The other unexpected aspect is that Happy is just a baby, his path to stardom even before he was born as he is single Susie's son, she who was pregnant with him at the time that Bob and J.C. came up with the story for the movie because of her delicate situation. The success of that movie and of other subsequent movies starring Larry and Happy as a screen team lead to a host of other problems which all resultantly center on a husband for Susie and a thus a father for Happy, Larry, Bob and J.C. all having their choice as said husband/father for their own self-motivated reasons unknowing that Susie herself has been trying to locate a British accented movie extra she met on the studio lot that same day she met Bob and J.C., that extra whose name she does not know and with who she made an emotional connection and would probably be her own choice.—Huggo
  • A Hollywood film studio in receivership and courted by a British outfit has all the signs of being run as a madhouse by Elliot Friday. To complete the image, screenwriters Law and Benson pretty well run rampant over the lot. When canteen-girl Susie is found to be pregnant they hatch the idea of making her expected baby a new star. Owner B.K. starts to realise this is no way to run a railroad.—Jeremy Perkins {J-26}
