Charles and Barbara Seaton are a happily married couple who, for the first time in seven years, are parted for the night when a business appointment prevents Charles from accompanying his wife to see their niece perform in a school concert. Barbara's close friend, Vi, seems to have one thing on her mind and encourages her to have an extra-marital affair, even trying to fix her up with another parent at the concert. Charles's pal is played by Cyril Raymond, best known as Mr Pipe and Slippers from Brief Encounter, but here he's a man-about-town who loves nothing better than a night out clubbing with various floozies, and encourages Charles to join him. Complications invariably ensue. Quite a saucy semi-farce, typical of a strand of stage and screen in pre-war Britain, and still quite entertaining. Emlyn Williams looks a little out of place in the lead.
