Things to Come (1936)

Goofs

Things to Come

Edit

Continuity

In his first scene Theotocopulos maintains the same position, leaning on his statue, but his sculpting mallet vanishes between shots.
During the bombing of Everytown, a man in a top hat follows several people across the hood of a car in an attempt to escape. There are footprints clearly all over the hood. A later scene shows more people using the same car, but this time the hood is clean.

Incorrectly regarded as goofs

In Everytown in 1970 industrial production has ceased, but the Boss's men still are able to go into battle against the Hill People with firearms, including machine guns, which couldn't be used without an industrial infrastructure to produce ammunition for them.

However, this takes place about four years after the end of the war and there would likely still be lots of military equipment and ammunition available.
When pilot John Cabal, arrives in Everytown in 1970, he is wearing a large half-helmet with a clear cover over the lower part of his face and neck. When he is walking with the people of Everytown to meet "The Boss", he is no longer wearing the half helmet. It's possible he may be carrying it, but in the following scenes the half helmet is never seen.

He is in fact carrying it, but since it's black it doesn't show up very well. He has it when he goes to see Dr. Harding, but when he leaves his laboratory he isn't carrying it with him.

Revealing mistakes

The arrangement of the three tunneling machines on the cliff face causes the debris from the topmost digger to cascade onto the lowermost. Also, the topmost tunneler is operating backwards, with debris falling from the pushing end and not the boring end.

Audio/visual unsynchronised

Near the end, the sound of the helicopter's rotor slowing almost to a stop is heard whilst it's still descending at constant speed.
