Bela Lugosi, Joan Barclay, Bruce Bennett, and Luana Walters in Shadow of Chinatown (1936)

Goofs

Shadow of Chinatown

Edit

Revealing mistakes

The "HELP" sign drawn on the mirror by Joan is written in skinny, very straight and angular letters, but when it is projected, Batman-style, on the wall outside, the letters are then rounded and fat.
When Martin climbs the utility pole, he is barehanded; however when he grabs and goes down the electric wire, he is clearly wearing thick black gloves. When he crash-lands through a window, he appears to have no gloves but later removes thinner, flesh-colored gloves.

Crew or equipment visible

At the end of Chapter: 14 (repeated at the beginning of 15) you can clearly hear the director, Robert F. Hill cuing Luana Walters to begin running. You can hear him say; "Go!" right before she runs to the door.

Character error

In Chapter: 1, when Joan, who is wearing an ankle-length skirt, falls sitting on her behind, after trying to climb the fire escape, there is a direct view of her very white underwear. In the next frame, after the cop passes her, she is filmed from the side, averting the unfortunate view.
