Emile Diedt (1897-1980) created the unique car for this film. The pontoon-shaped fenders would become very popular on factory cars, as well as on custom cars in the years that would follow. Diedt was an American race car builder. He specialized in body-building and metalwork, and his chassis won the Indianapolis 500 in 1947 and 1948 with Mauri Rose, and in 1949 with Bill Holland.
