Bing Crosby and Lilyan Tashman
So OK the plot is a tad worn. Bing Crosby plays a stage star who happens to see an act in smalltown Ohio when is plane is downed for bad weather. He signs the girl (Judith Allen) for his show which s heading for Broadway.
The trouble is she wants to take her partners (Jack Oakie, Skeets Gallagher) and she's sort of engaged to Oakie. That's OK because Bing is engaged to golddigging Lilyan Tashman. Wisecracking Patsy (Kitty Kelly) knows the score and tricks Tashman into dumping Bing for a rich millionaire ... but it Oakie pretending to be rich.
Forget the plot and enjoy the music by Arthur Johnston and Sam Coslow. Bing teaches train passengers to key to crooning in "Boo-boo-boo," in a parody of his famous crooning style. Bing and Judith Allen sing "Thanks," "I Gues It Had to Be That Way," and "The Day You Came Along."
Grace Bradley gets to sing and dance to "Cradle Me with a Hotcha Lullaby" and Kitty Kelly torches the "Black Moonlight" number, which tells a story about Harlem. Oakie and Gallagher get two comic numbers.
The finale is the risque "Buckin' the Wind" which is sung by Bing and features chorus girls who keep buckin' the wind even though their clothese keep blowing away. They finish the number holding up a banner that reads CENSORED.
Others in the cast include Ned Sparks, Harry Green, and Oakie's real-life mother, Evelyn Oakie. Henry Armetta, and Hobart Cavanaugh.
