The Inefficiency Apartment
boblipton24 October 2019
Edgar Kennedy and Florence Lake find an old lady sitting on the stoop of an apartment building. She has a crazy couple living in one of her apartments. Edgar and Florence go in to look. The woman is perfectly nice. The man stolidly opens doors by kicking them, ignores the block of ice that repeatedly falls from the ice box, and when Edgar lifts them bodily and deposits them outside, do not object. So our couple take the apartment, move in with Florence's mother, Dot Farley, her brother, William Eugene, and learn the hard way what drove the previous couple mad.

Edgar Kennedy's THE COMMON MAN series is still finding its way at this point, and Edgar plays it big, loud and blustery from the get-go. Lucy Beaumont as the landlady is wonderfully annoying. It's also the only comedy short I've seen which has two Murphy beds in it.
