Storyline
Plot Summary |
Reporter Roy Smith is assigned to investigate the recent gangland killings between rival gangs run by Piccardi and Big Boy. Piccardi's moll, Lita Alvaro, seduces Big Boy into a trap laid by Piccardi. Roy goes to the nightclub Piccardi frequents, where he meets Piccardi's new interest, Doris White, but Roy learns no new information. The next morning, Big Boy's dead body is deposited in front of Roy's house, and he discovers to his horror that the gangster is his own brother. Bent on revenge, Roy arranges with police to go undercover and be inducted into Piccardi's gang. He meets Doris again through Piccardi, and she reveals that she, too, seeks revenge against the gangster because he killed her brother. Piccardi dumps Lita in favor of Doris, to whom he reveals his awareness that Roy is an infiltrator. Piccardi plots Roy's death, and before Doris can warn him, Roy is ushered into a car for his "last ride," just as his brother had been. Lita, informed by police of Piccardi's duplicity, finds him with Doris and threatens to expose him. Before he can kill her, he is caught by a detective with whom Roy had been working, and police arrive in time to save Roy from the killers. Back at Piccardi's apartment, Roy confronts Doris, believing she sold him out to Piccardi, but she convinces him otherwise, and they put the past behind them. |
