COMMENT: An entertainment treat for all lovers of vintage westerns, this one features a top-notch cast in a spell-binding story of twist and counter-twist, directed in grand style by Lew Collins, and photographed most attractively on some pretty scenic outdoor locations by Jim Diamond.

The indoor jail set is most atmospherically lit and photographed too.

The story moves at such a grand pace and is so chock-full of conflict and action, I didn't notice whether background music was present or absent.

But it was great to see Benny Corbett doing justice to a more or less straight role and good old Yak Canutt making the most of his opportunities as a fairly personable but villainous sheriff.

Jack Rockwell also stands out on the wrong side of the law, and I really enjoyed Neal Hart's interpretation of the hero's square- shooting "pa".
