Remade in 1934 as "The Sundown Trail" with Wally Wales by Robert Emmett Tansey, a 25-minute "featurette" that served to prove that less is better, an attribute seldom used in connection with any Robert Tansey offering.Yakima Canutt,the star of "Canyon Hawks", also shows up in the remake as an uncredited stuntman. Cattleman Jack Benson finds Mildred Manning and her brother George, living in one of the line-shacks on his ranch and their grizzly sheep grazing away at his grass. Smitten with Mildred, he not only lets them stay, he even deeds this part of his ranch to them. This leads to trouble with other cattleman and also with an outlaw gang known as the Canyon Hawks, led by Steve Knowles. Actually, the $500 reward poster posted by Sheriff Jackson identifies the gang as "The Hawks."
