- It is believed that the opening animation of the dog (with synchronized dialogue) was added to the film in 1929 for a re-release, and not part of the original 1926 release of the film. Following the January 1929 departures of Max Fleischer and Dave Fleischer, Inkwell Studios president Alfred Weiss reissued earlier films from the Inkwell library with additional animation and sound, and with new title cards that removed all credits to the Fleischers. The version of "My Old Kentucky Home" that is widely circulated online is a reissue version with no mention of the Fleischer brothers.
- The 2002 Inkwell Images restored version recreates the Red Seal-era title cards, while using the Alfred Weiss-era Pinkie the Pup version of the cartoon. The sing-along lyrics are boxed within a yellow patterned border (the rest of the cartoon is black & white) and the film closes with the Inkwell Studios logo.
- The Film Circulation Corporation reissue from the sound era (available on Thunderbean's "Fleischer Rarities" Blu-ray) uses new opening and closing title cards and groups this film in a series called "Songs You Like To Sing".
- It is likely the revamped sound version was released c.1929 as a "Screen Tune", with title cards akin to those of "Down in Jungle Town" (1929) (as evidenced by the barking sounds heard in the background of the opening credits in the Film Circulation Corp. version).
- According to the review in the April 10, 1926, edition of "Motion Picture News", the original (pre-Pinkie) version of the cartoon featured Ko-Ko the clown leading a brass band into a theatre.
