Accustomed to being treated as a hopeless wallflower by her mother and her brothers, Idalene Nobbin ( Colleen Moore ) attends a high society party and is greatly astonished when dashing football star Roy Duncan, ( Tom Gallery ) asks her to dance. Later, she is the victim of a cruel joke, which so humiliates her, that she throws herself in front of a speeding auto. Badly wounded with two broken legs, she is picked up by wealthy society girl Pamela Shiel ( Gertrude Astor ) and her guest Walter Breen ( Richard Dix ). They take her to Pamela's home and Idalene explains she wishes to die because no man would ever want to marry her. Pamela treats her with all beautiful luxuries and teaches her to walk gracefully and wear stylish clothes, very soon her blooming charm attracts Walter. At a party Pamela gives in her honour her former critics pay her homage. Walter proposes marriage, but Idalene refuses when she learns that Pamela also loves him; but Pamela suppresses her feelings in favour of Idalene, and the lovers are happily united.
