Nobody's Kid (1921) - Lost Film
PamelaShort31 January 2015
Warning: Spoilers
Sadly refused recognition by her grandfather, after her parents death, Mary Cary ( Mae Marsh ) is placed in an orphanage. There she is abused and humiliated, and when the poor girl is caught by a matron outside the grounds playing ball with a youthful admirer, she is whipped. When she learns that her grandfather is a well-known judge and that her father was a British aristocrat, Mary sends a letter to her Uncle. She is promptly rescued from the orphanage and the grateful girl, forever remains faithful to her young admirer.

Very popular for early silent films, was the typical storyline of the neglected waif, mistreated in an orphanage and happily being rescued. Many audience members could identify with the poverty stricken, downtrodden theme. Tragically this film starring the brilliant actress Mae Marsh, is now considered lost.
