During the silent era, the most prolific cartoon series were the Mutt & Jeff shorts. All together, they made nearly 300 of the films between 1916-1926 and "Cramps" is among the first of these stories. And, if you want to watch it, it's on a DVD from Alpha Video entitled "Early Animation Pioneers".
Jeff cannot sleep a he has painful stomach cramps. At first, Mutt talks about taking him to the doctor but then decide to try treating him by himself. Not surprisingly, the results are far from satisfactory. At one point, Mutt uses nitroglycerin instead of glycerin to treat the poor guy!
This cartoon seemed to end prematurely....as if it's missing the very end....though I am not positive. Overall, a mildly amusing film but one that seems to be difficult to rate due to its condition.
