After rising through the ranks in a steel mill to become the superintendent, Jim Warren ( Carlyle Blackwell ) loyalties remain with the workers, however, and with their encouragement, he runs for assemblyman to dislodge the crooked incumbent, Francis Everard Lewis ( Douglas Gerrard ) . When Jim helps Edna Tillinghast ( Neva Gerber ) , a politician's daughter whom he met once in the mill, fix her stalled car, to his shock he learns that she is Lewis' fiancée. After Lewis' secretary Franques ( John Sheehan ) gives Jim evidence to implicate Lewis, he withdraws from the race, Edna believes that Jim forced him out unfairly. Jim next runs for governor against Edna's father, and she soon loves Jim's sincerity and breaks her engagement with Lewis against her father's wishes. After Jim receives bribes from various sources, Lewis tries to have Jim arrested, but Jim leads investigators to his bank, where he reveals the untouched, sealed bribes. Jim's fame is spread by the newspapers, and when he is nominated for governor, Edna consents to be his wife.

Favorite Players Film Company was formed by actor Carlyle Blackwell in August 1914 to produce films starring himself. William Desmond Taylor was in charge of production at the new studio in Edendale, California. The company disbanded in April 1915, when Carlyle went to the Jesse L. Lasky Feature Play Company. Sadly this rare example of their work, is now considered a lost silent film.
