" Lost Biograph Film Was A Tearjerker "
PamelaShort15 December 2013
Warning: Spoilers
This lost Biograph Company silent melodrama was definitely intended to tug at the audiences heartstrings. It tells the story of a widow who suffers the loss of her only child. Her magnificent mansion is shrouded with gloom from the death. Meanwhile, two very little children are sent to an orphanage at the death of their Mama, who, they have been told is in heaven. An opportunity enables them to steal away from the asylum grounds and journey on in search of Heaven. After a long jaunt they come upon the grieving widow's mansion, and believe they have reached Heaven, ask if their Mama is there. The sight of these two darling waifs affects the woman so that she adopts them to fill the void in her heart caused from the loss of her own child. Grace Henderson played the grieving widow and Kate Bruce was Mother Ignatius from the orphan asylum. Edith Haldeman was one of the waifs, and Jack Pickford is listed only as Boy on Road. Sister Lottie Pickford is listed in this film but there is no information as to her role. This lost 1910 melodrama was partially filmed on location in Greenwich, Connecticut.
