- A group of American boys and a shipwrecked Russian sailor become friends during the Cold War.
- 2003 Catherine and George Gauthier live in Washington. Catherine works in her small photography studio, George teaches at Georgetown University. They look like an ordinary family, but in fact they are agents of the Russian Foreign Intelligence Service Vera Sviblova and Anton Vyazin. In the US, they are collecting data on the secret "Zone of Influence" plan to destroy the Russian economy.
