- 20091h 38mUnrated8.9 (15)In the summer of 2004, the Mayor of Lewiston, Maine announced a plan to develop a four-lane boulevard across downtown's low-income neighborhood. This project was called "The Heritage Initiative." Contrary to its name, this plan was going to eliminate the downtown's heritage by displacing 850 people from their homes as well as destroy playgrounds, vegetable gardens, and historic buildings. Moving residents out of the city and improving traffic flow was at the heart of this proposal... It was 1960's Urban Renewal all over again. As tragic as the circumstances were, the threat of a road destroying the neighborhood required residents to rise to the challenge of becoming *community organizers. Instead of allowing their neighborhood to be paved over, the residents of downtown organized themselves into a group called "The Visible Community." They received support from non-residents alike - social service leaders, college students, and other people who recognized the Heritage Initiative as an unfair way of "cleaning up" the downtown at the expense of the people who lived there. What happened next was an incredible story of people coming together to protect their homes, hold their political leaders accountable, and work towards creating a democratic planning process that honored the input of low-income people as much as any other person's voice. This movie documents 5 years of development and community organizing in Lewiston, Maine. It reveals the strategies, the mistakes, the prejudices, the lessons... all of the difficult stuff that makes up the political process - the act of making decisions and setting policy TOGETHER. It's an exceptional story about the people of Lewiston, but it's also a universal story about the challenges faced by many urban neighborhoods across the United States.

- The documentary, "The Power of Community - How Cuba Survived Peak Oil," was inspired when Faith Morgan and Pat Murphy took a trip to Cuba through Global Exchange in August, 2003. That year Pat had begun studying and speaking about worldwide peak oil production. In May Pat and Faith attended the second meeting of The Association for the Study of Peak Oil and Gas, a European group of oil geologists and scientists, which predicted that mankind was perilously close to having used up half of the world's oil resources. When they learned that Cuba underwent the loss of over half of its oil imports and survived, after the fall of the Soviet Union in 1990, the couple wanted to see for themselves how Cuba had done this. During their first trip to Cuba, in the summer of 2003, they traveled from Havana to Trinidad and through several other towns on their way back to Havana. They found what Cubans call "The Special Period" astounding and Cuban's responses very moving. Faith found herself wanting to document on film Cuba's successes so that what they had done wouldn't be lost. Both of them wanted to learn more about Cuba's transition from large farms or plantations and reliance on fossil-fuel-based pesticides and fertilizers, to small organic farms and urban gardens. Cuba was undergoing a transition from a highly industrial society to a sustainable one. Cuba became, for them, a living example of how a country can successfully traverse what we all will have to deal with sooner or later, the reduction and loss of finite fossil fuel resources. In the fall of 2003 Pat and Faith had the opportunity to return to Cuba to study its agriculture. It was a wonderful trip. They saw much of the island, met many farmers and urban gardeners, scientists and engineers - traveling more than 1700 miles, from one end of Cuba to the other. It was all they had hoped for and more. In 2004 Community Service, Inc. (CSI) began raising money and organizing a third trip (October), to film in Cuba. Greg Green, cinematographer and director of The End of Suburbia documentary, was the chief videographer. Faith Morgan shot the second camera, John Morgan did still photography and Megan Quinn, Outreach Director of CSI, was sound director. After their return from Cuba, they secured assistance and direction from Tom Blessing IV, producer, and Eric Johnson, post-production supervisor and editor. Together, they bring over 40 years combined experience in film and television production. The goals of this film are to give hope to the developed world as it wakes up to the consequences of being hooked on oil, and to lift American's prejudice of Cuba by showing the Cuban people as they are. The filmmakers do this by having the people tell their story on film. It's a story of their dedication to independence and triumph over adversity, and a story of cooperation and hope. Several Cubans expressed the belief that living on an island, with its natural boundaries, breeds awareness that there are limits to natural resources. Everyone who has worked on the documentary hopes that, seeing this film, people will also see the world on which we live, as another, much larger, island.

- An 11 year old British princess has been sent away from her British Boarding School due to her outrageous behavior (This is the first scene we see, utter chaos with boys and girls running amock, fires burning, loud music with the arrival of ambulances and fire engines, with one girl on top of the school shouting that she wont come down!) This behavior has caused Amelia Windsor to be a disgrace to her royal family. She is then given the choice of going to a strict camp in England and returning to the same school in the fall or sent to another school in America where she can learn how to behave. This school is a very rough, downtown, locals only school. She chooses the latter and is packed off immediately. On the plane she opens a letter from her father explaining that there is one important rule she must adhere to and this is to not tell anyone who she is ie royalty. We see Craig with his friends in a bar, Craig is a very big tall black guy who is obviously quite hardcore and you wouldn't want to mess with him, his first scene is where he gets into a fight in this bar and is arrested. As we see him in his cell, the police officer obviously knows him and asks "what did he do this time and that he really needs to move on and find another job", he explains the CIA were his life and he doesn't know what else he can do. He is sent home and we see a text and link arrive on his phone as he is heading into his flat, he opens it and sees its from his friend and it's a job description. Its asking for a bodyguard. It explains its top secret and its urgent. Craig arrives at the airport in blacktops style gear, all he knows is that he is to meet "the package" from the plane and deliver it to an address. We see the plane arrive and comments saying there is a problem and anyone in arrivals will be informed as soon as possible to when the passengers will be ready to leave the aircraft. The next thing we see is Ameila being escorted by police into customs. Craigs phone rings and we see he is being told to meet the package somewhere else. He is taken into a room and questioned. He says he knows nothing but this email that was sent to him. We see it's the match to the one the airport police have so they are very relieved to hand Amelia over once the huge fine is paid. Craig says there must be some kind of mistake but no, Amelia is the package. He thinks she will be easy to handle but through scenes of escape and parties and missing school. As well as hilarious scenes where they have to disguise Amelia through clothes and her accent and wigs. She proves she is quite a handful. Their relationship develops over the course of the film where Craig learns there is more to life than just work and actually starts to care for a girl he meets and Amelia, as well as Amelia realizing she needs to stop being so selfish and start thinking about her actions and their consequences. The finale is when Craig rescues her from a life and death situation.
