- Napoleon going away upon a secret mission, entrusts the key of his private chamber to his chancellor. Two of his courtiers are seen by his private detective, watching the proceedings from behind the portieres. The secret spy knows that they mean mischief, and keeps close watch of them. He overhears their plot to secure the key. They hire two ruffians to find a man to impersonate the emperor to deceive the chancellor and secure the key. They post a bill for men who resemble Napoleon to call at their headquarters. The secret spy applies, and so well imitates the actions of the emperor, he is employed to portray his majesty. He reports to the emperor, who agrees to take the part himself. His man writes the ruffians that he is sick, and requests them to call to see him at once. They arrive, and when they see their sick accomplice, they are furious. Napoleon is introduced, and offers to take his place. He is put through a course of drilling and then told that he will be acceptable. The emperor goes to the palace and has no trouble in securing the key from the chancellor. The two dishonest noblemen are waiting in the ante-chamber and as the emperor opens the door, they pass in with him, where they are held prisoners by the soldiers, who have been waiting, and are then taken into custody. The emperor demands the price offered, for the work which he has done, and the noblemen, in addition to their arrest, are obliged to pay the purse.
- Tom is a lazy young beach comber, who devotes his entire time to wandering along the seashore in search of anything of interest. He sees Henry, a wealthy young man, fall from a pier into shallow water, and with a great display of heroism, drags the young man to the shore. Then he is invited to Henry's house and he is made much of. Later his parents are invited, and all goes well until they are about to depart, when Henry's sweetheart exposes the family of Tom by compelling them to reveal silverware, bric-a-brac and expensive cigars which they have secreted about their persons. Tom is denounced as a bogus hero and after being thrown out of the house, his conniving old parents are ordered to follow him forthwith.

- Papa is an ardent lover of music and will not accept Percy as his son-in-law unless he can play the horn. With the assistance of a confederate stationed outside the door, Percy astounds the assembled guests with his performances, until a mix-up in signals occurs which discloses the trick, but papa thinks it all such a good joke that he gives his consent just the same.
- Andy is very strong for the landlady's daughter, who likes him, although the landlady objects. Upon the count's arrival on the scene, the landlady picks him out as a possible suitor for her daughter. Andy, for revenge, picks up Snitz, who works in the park, and introduces him to the landlady as the Baron von Glutz. He dresses him beforehand in the count's uniform, so that he will look the part. He has an understanding with Snitz that when the latter cuts out the count he will retire in Andy's favor. Snitz, however, likes the new title so well that he refuses to retire when the proper time comes. Andy, in revenge, tells the count that Snitz is wearing his uniform, which arouses him to fury, with disastrous results to Snitz.
- Two effete noblemen get slightly mixed up when two knights of the road obtain their passports and clothes, impersonate them, and lay a series of mischief and crimes at the door of the imported innocents.

- Jack, an indolent fellow, happens to pick up a letter which Count Galmier has just dropped. The letter is from the count's attorney, informing the lucky nobleman that a large fortune has been left to him through the death of his grandmother. Realizing at once the importance of the lucky find, Jack calls upon the attorney, who becoming reassured on the production of the letter, furnishes the impostor with ready money and gives him a letter of credit to all the tradespeople. Mr. Jack has a glorious time on the easy money, dressed in the finest clothes with a luxurious flat at his disposal, he spends money like a good fellow. Soon the rightful heir puts in his appearance, and once more poor Jack is precipitated into his former state of poverty, while the unfortunate lawyer whose fate is no less serious, is compelled to pay all the tradespeople out of his own pocket, for the extravagance of happy Jack.
- When his daughter comes to visit him, the chauffeur begs his boss, the president of a large firm, to exchange places for a few days.

Cop arrests Uncle, but on way to prison they meet the uncle's man. Cop and Uncle come back for the tramp, who has skipped.
- A man pursues his eloping wife and finds he has been tricked.
- A film company advertises for a comedian. There are a number of ludicrous applicants at the studio for the job. Much fun is created as the different applicants are ushered before the camera and they are rejected and ejected by the director and judges. Finally, the successful applicant, with his funny walk, eccentricities and funny mannerisms, appears. He is accepted and is given the $100,000 per year job. Then the big show comes on, "The Bogus Earl," wherein Mr. Pincus Rainbow, the successful applicant, is given the leading role. The Earl of Algy, a land-poor nobleman, is advised by his solicitor to seek the hand of an American heiress. He departs for America and upon arriving there, decides to give the millionaire sausage manufacturer's daughter the "once over'' before presenting his credentials. While en route to their country estate he meets with an automobile accident, and is removed to the hospital. In the meantime two tramps, Pincus and Bud, find his credentials on the roadside, also his suitcase containing his clothes, which they don, and present themselves at Hans Hinkle's home. They find that a handsome youth is already a suitor for the daughter's hand, but Pincus meets with much encouragement from the mother, who is socially ambitious. Pincus and Bud's uncouth manners at the lawn party, their queer appearance and rough antics create many amusing scenes. Finally, there are a number of elopements planned which become sadly mixed up, resulting in a complication of troubles and a climax filled with side-splitting laughter. In the meantime the real earl recovers and presents himself at the home. The duplicity of Pincus and Bud is revealed. There is one grand scramble by all of those who want to wreak vengeance on them, and after a wild chase Pincus and Bud make their escape on a box car.

- William is madly in love with Ada, the charming daughter of a wealthy merchant, and wishes very much to secure an introduction to her parents. An opportunity finally arrives; the young lady's music teacher is suddenly taken ill, and a good friend takes advantage of the situation to introduce William as a capable substitute, although the latter doesn't have the faintest idea of music. However, the lesson prove a success, and the clever deceiver, gets a chance to ingratiate himself into the esteem of the unsuspicious father, who finally consents to their marriage. After the honeymoon trip. William is forced to confess his deception, and the stern parent is just ready to go into a terrible rage, when the young couple apply the necessary oil to the troubled waters by promising to make a musician of their first child.
- Lord Gumboil is a very exacting man with his servants. One thing of all others he insists on, and that is sobriety. "Perkins," his valet, has stolen the keys of the wine cellar and become drunk. The Lord is furious at his absence and dispatches the other servants to find him. They do so. The valet proceeds to wait on his master and, in doing so, empties the contents of a tray over his Lordship's head, who immediately cuffs and kicks him out. Smarting under the blows he resolves to get even. He hires a wig and mustache and proceeds to change his appearance to look like his Lordship. The resemblance is startling. The real Lordship invites his fiancée to a lawn party. The Lord and future mother-in-law stroll off and the bogus Lord conies in. Consternation reigns at the apparent insanity of his Lordship. His Lordship's fiancée is treated to a terrifying experience. "Perkins" soundly thrashes two officer friends, who in turn thrash "Gumboil." Mistaking "Perkins" for the Lord, the lady goes boating with him. He tumbles overboard and is chased over hill and dale, and finally captured and arrested after profuse apologies all around.
- A "mystic" uses a woman who was believed to have been drowned to pretend to be a "ghost" in his phony act.
- Buck Carson receives his pay along with the other cowboys. He is held up and robbed of all he has. Next morning Carson comes upon a sign offering $500 reward for the apprehension of one Bat Collins, outlaw. A description follows and Carson realizes that he had been held up by Bat Collins the night before. An old drifter and his daughter are wandering overland in their camp wagon. Buck Carson makes their acquaintance, just after the girl's old father has broken his leg. An idea strikes him. He decides to pass himself off for the outlaw and turn himself over to the sheriff, with instructions that the reward money be paid to the old man and his daughter. Buck is incarcerated. The men of the country around make up their mind to lynch the notorious outlaw. Meanwhile the real Bat Collins endeavors to hold up a ranchman who rides to inform the sheriff. He arrives just as they are about to string up Buck Carson. The story of the old man and his daughter is made public and the old ranchman passes around his hat. As the story closes, Buck Carson receives his reward in the love of the maiden for whose sake he has offered to make the sacrifice.
- A fakir breaks dishes and by sprinkling his powder upon the pieces restores them to their original condition. A gullible old gentleman purchases some of the powder and in attempting to imitate the feats of the fakir breaks all the dishes in his home before he realizes that he has been buncoed.

- Simone and Sipowicz investigate a claim of sexual assault against a mentally disabled 17-year-old schoolgirl, after her domineering and verbally abusive mother reports it. They try to persuade her to press charges against the two assailants. The alleged assailants are from privileged backgrounds who attend an exclusive prep school. One is the son of sleazy councilman Paul Manos, with whom the detectives had problems a year earlier. Meanwhile, a young man who speaks only gibberish, known to Sipowicz who had him committed four years ago, appears at the station and causes a minor scene -- trying to get someone to listen to him about a problem he now has. Sipowicz investigates. Meanwhile, Russell continues her undercover work and relationship with Jimmy, who shows off his true psychopathology when he beats up a roller blader who had accidentally bumped into Russell.Votes149
