- When the leading lady of a Broadway musical breaks her ankle, she is replaced by a young unknown actress, who becomes the star of the show.
- Band Leader Kay Kyser wants to take a holiday, but his publicist Charlotte has promised that he'll give a concert for defense plant workers. Due to the fact that his vocalist has quit to get married, the plant owner's daughter Julie sings instead. But Kay dislikes her idea of joining the band.

Jones is killed, and saloon keeper Phil Beason fastens the blame on David, who is about to be lynched when Charles claims the guilt. Jacinta saves both brothers from the rope with the timely arrival of a posse and Augustina's confession to Jones's murder. Charles reveals himself to David and is reunited with Jacinta.
- Two land sharks, U. Holdim and I. Robim, are after a farmer's property where oil has been discovered. The farm hand, Lay Zee, in love with the farmer's daughter, saves the farm and routs the oily crooks.

A climactic chase through the streets of 1918 Los Angeles is packed with the kind of spectacular stunts that made Semon one of the biggest names in silent comedy at the time.
- Lupin (Lou Tellegen) is the lover of Joan (Nazimova) of the Apaches. She is attracted by Paul de Gafilet (Carleton D. Miller), nobleman and sculptor. She visits him in his studio and resolves to abandon her underworld career for his sake. Lupin vows revenge but is frustrated by Joan. The latter's affection for Paul turns to rage when she sees him embracing another woman. Joan joins with her confederates to steal some jewels from a statue of the Madonna in a church. She learns that the woman she is jealous of is Paul's sister, attempts to halt the robbery but fails. Paul is injured by the thieves and Joan held captive. Lupin shows his love for the girl by annexing and returning the stolen gems. He is badly wounded but finds happiness in Joan's arms, who finally realizes that he is the man she really cares for.

- The king is threatened with a revolution and death, and he abdicates in favor of the dock laborer who has hidden in a box and been smuggled into the palace. The new ruler is too lively for the plotters and after smashing numerous vases over their heads and dumping them into a cistern beneath the palace, he is knighted by the newly crowned queen.
