- To celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Poltava mine and processing plant, Ferrexpo has prepared a special memento to commemorate the work of pioneers, veterans and everyone who contributed to the construction and development of the industrial giant. This documentary film details the history of the mine and the determination of the people who made it happen. In January 1960, a group of young men and women arrived to the sandy banks of the river Dnieper to begin an enormous undertaking that transformed a barren land into a world-class mine and processing plant. On 27 February 1970, the first iron ore concentrate was produced at the plant. Since then, over 94,000 people have worked here; and today, Ferrexpo is the world's third largest supplier of iron ore pellets to the global steel industry.
