- Barry Norman presents his personal review of the week's cinema releases. Broadcast News (1987) - this is set in the cut-throat world of TV news. The rivalry, loves and problems of a group of fiercely ambitious newsgatherers provide the focus for this film. It is heavily tipped for the honours at next week's Oscar ceremony, including Best ' Actor for William Hurt. In Zürich, Wagner meets up with his good friend Franz Liszt, while also taking on a pupil, Karl Ritter, the son of another patron, Mrs. Ritter.
- Construction on the opera house in Bayreuth begins and his epic Der Ring des Nibelungen can finally be premiered. The performance is attended by Ludwig who is slowly losing his mind, while living in his gigantic new castle Neuschwanstein. Wagner and Nietzsche have a falling out over Wagner's lifestyle and ideas (including his rampant anti-semitism). Flash forward years later to 1883, shortly before his death, Wagner and Liszt reflect on Wagner's life: the people he has known, the events that occurred and the music he composed.

They are not real ambulance drivers but Arnie's sons, helping him relieve punters of their money. But then Cassandra hears that Arnie is going to sell the chains to Denzil. Cue Del and Co. to pose as ambulance men and wait for Arnie's next 'heart attack.'
- After seeing the film 'Wall Street' Del fancies himself as Peckham's answer to Gordon Gecko and changes his image. He even - temporarily - gives up the Nag's Head for a trendy wine bar where he is just a little too casual for his own good. Rodney goes on a computer course and meets a nice girl called Cassandra. When she offers him a lift home, he is ashamed to tell her where he lives and gets her to drop him off in an upmarket suburban avenue. She eventually rumbles his deception, but agrees to go on a date anyway.
- Sir Humphrey has to scramble when the Prime Minister's Political Advisor, Mrs. Wainwright, convinces the PM that she should get her old office back. Sir Humphrey and his predecessors have been trying to get her moved for years but he may have met his match when she also suggests to the PM that he re-assign Sir Humphrey's responsibilities for promotions and appointments. When the PM orders Bernard to take away Sir Humphrey's key to the door connecting the Cabinet Office to 10 Downing Street, the Cabinet Secretary sees the light.

When two of the dolls self-inflate in the flat, Del dresses them in his late mother's clothes to get them into the van incognito. However, when he arrives at his destination, Dirty Barry is unable to oblige - as his licence has been revoked by the council.

Once installed in the cottage, Wagner begins a passionate correspondence with Mathilde, which upsets both Mathilde's husband, Otto, and Wagner's wife, Minna, who seeks solace in increasing amounts of laudanum. Wagner, who starts composing 'Tristan und Isolde' for Mathilde, is also visited by his good friend Hans von Bülow, and his new bride Cosima, Liszt's daughter. After a while, Minna works up the courage to confront Wagner and Mathilde about their correspondence.

Del finds himself designated as the courier between Holland and Britain. No sooner has Del enlisted a reluctant Rodders, he hears his old foil Chief Inspector Slater is eyeing Boycie and Abdul as drug dealers. Del decides to hide undetected in the back of Denzil's van. Denzil then getting in and driving them to Hull (pursued by Rodney) was not part of the plan. Thinking quickly, they hire a boat, and let Uncle Albert guide them to Amsterdam. Overcoming counterfeit cash, Albert's amnesia, it's only the arrival of Slater that scuppers them. Despite this, it's Del who has the last laugh.

- The Minister is once again locking horns with Sir Humphrey, this time over a local Council's inability, or refusals, to submit its statistical reports. The local Council government belongs to Hacker's party and he doesn't want to make waves but Sir Humphrey is insistent. The Minister gains the advantage when a Daily Mail reporter put him on to a story. The 30-year lease on a military base in Scotland is about to expire and the government will lose a fortune it has spent building it up. It would seem that some junior bureaucrat at the time made a grievous error in preparing the lease. Needless to say, the Minister makes full use of the information, especially when he learns the identity of the junior official from all those years ago.

With Rodney and Del up ladders, and an old sheet the only thing between the cut-glass chandelier and the floor, it is only natural that Grandad detaches the chandelier from the room behind them. Del's fast talking excuses are the Trotters' only chance they have of escape!

Frasier believes that he has the ultimate answer to the evening's problems.

Doheny eventually tracks the two killers to Hawaii and enlists Magnum's help without telling him why he wants to find the men. One of the killers flees Doheny and is run over by a bus. In a quiet, intense way, Doheny describes the killing to Magnum and makes it perfectly clear that he will kill the other murderer if he finds him, no matter what the circumstances. Magnum goes along hoping to find the killer first and spare Doheny from a murder rap.
- Magnum is shot in a warehouse and is left for dead. He then "sees" but cannot communicate with Higgins, Rick, TC, Carol, Michelle, et al.
- Crockett and Tubbs stake out a drug dealer, an investigation that is being helped along by an ex-cop that seems to know a bit too much about the case.
- Del is getting into financial trouble - even his double-headed coin can't help him win. He's gambling away his money with no sign of stopping, and he's already £150 down. Nevertheless, when Boycie challenges him to a winner-takes-all poker game, Del is eager to host it in his flat in Mandela House. As the night progresses, Del's luck goes from bad to worse as he ends up owing Boycie all his money, the TITCO van, Grandad's cash, jewellery and even a collection of loose change. But all is not lost, as Del finally turns the tables on Boycie in revenge for fixing all the previous card games in his favour.
- After witnessing Trigger's unexpected success with his date from a local computer dating agency, Del fancies his chances of having some too. He duly enrolls, and sets out to meet his blind date at Waterloo Station. All seems to go well on their first date at a posh hotel - but have they both been entirely honest with each other?
- Trigger's young niece, Lisa, is staying with him for a while, and the scruffy young girl that Del and Rodney remember has now become a stunning 25 year-old woman. Both Trotter brothers think they are in with a chance, and immediately begin competing for Lisa's affections. Despite almost coming to blows, Del and Rodney manage to invite Lisa round to the flat for tea, and she seems more than happy to accept. In preparation for their date with Lisa, Del goes out to get some more 'Smash' and Rodney spends half-an-hour on the sunbed. Just before Del leaves for the shops, he notices Rodney has dozed off and whacks up the heat on the bed. Much to Rodney's annoyance, he spends most of the evening nursing his bright red face, which has burnt under the ultra-violet rays, whilst Del and Lisa seem to be getting on really well. To get his revenge, Rodders picks up on the fact that Lisa mentions she was going hang-gliding, and as a surprise for his 46th birthday, he arranges for Del to have a go. After offering to give her a left back home to Winchester, Del and Rodney head off to meet Lisa's friends for a spot of hang-gliding. Not wanting to loose face, Del reluctantly agrees to try it out, and after launching himself into the air, he disappears for over 12 hours.
- The Red Dwarf crew encounter the Polymorph, a genetically engineered space mutant that drains the emotions from humans, that has arrived on-board Red Dwarf.
- The Sheriff is ordered by the King to put a stop to Robin Hood once and for all, or else Robert de Rainault will lose all his power as sheriff. Using threats to set up an ambush at Wickham, and bloodhounds to follow the outlaws desperate attempt to escape back into the depths of Sherwood, it soon evolves into a dramatic life-or-death chase through the forest. When the Minister learns that bribes were likely paid to obtain the contract, he insists that there be a full public inquiry. A little reminder from Sir Humphrey sets things straight.

Therefore, at a party he is organizing to mark the Kaiser's birthday, plans are made to kill him, involving poison - in the pill by the till in the jug with the drug - and dynamite hidden in a birthday cake - the candle with the handle in the gateau from the chateau. The poison actually turns out to be aspirin and the candle seems likely to explode and kill everybody so René tips a bucket of sand over it, explaining to von Klinkerhoffen that it was done as a respectful gesture to mark the Kaiser's burial.
