- A colonial police detective in an Eastern seaport seeks a stolen gem, and infiltrates the underworld by posing as a look-alike wharfside bar owner.
- A cowboy captures two rustlers and collects a $5000 reward. Using the money to take a vacation, he winds up getting accused of a murder he didn't commit.
- A crooked nightclub owner, pretending to go straight, is forced to kill a henchman when the latter tries to run off with the gang's latest haul.
- Prospectors Bill Carter (Bill Cody) and his young partner Ted Simms (Bill Cody, Jr.) come upon the wounded Sheriff Madden (Edward Cassidy). left for dead by smuggling outlaws. They take him to the cabin of Desert Lew (Milburn Morante), where Madden appoints Bill a deputy to run down the smugglers. The leader of the smugglers is Hal Bost (Roger Williams), a Madden deputy, who leads Diane (Betty Mack) to believe that Bill has killed her missing father.
- A trio of former cattle rustlers try to go straight, but find that they can't shake off their reputations and trouble follows them.
- Sheriff Bill Jones, in the line of duty, kills outlaw Joe Land and adopts his young son, Tim. They come upon a former silver boomtown, reputed to be haunted, whose only inhabitant is Hiram McDuff, a friend of Bill's. Ranch owner Joan Stanley hires Bill and Tim. Her father has been killed by the gang of Wolf Larson. By mistake, McDuff hires the Larson gang on as ranch hands for Joan. They plan to steal the stock while Bill is away. Tim overhears the plot and informs Bill. Bill and Tim use ghost makeup, skeleton sheets (even outfitting their horses with skeleton-looking blankets) and tricks to rout the superstitious gang members...
- When Steve Harper chases down some rustlers, he loses his gun in the ensuing fistfight. After Wilson is killed, Steve's gun is found nearby and he as arrested. Jimmy Wilson breaks him out of jail and he heads after the real killer.
- Both Marshal McDonald and Nevada Joe and his gang are after money stolen by the Slades. When McDonald rescues Jim Slade from Nevada's gang, he is seriously wounded. Jim gets him to a doctor and just as he returns to full strength, Nevada and his gang arrive and Jim and the Marshal must face them.
- Border Patrolman Bill Roberts, posing as outlaw Whitey Jones, and his Mexican pal, Sanchez, through trickery, join a band of smugglers and revolutionists. Bill meets Mary Warren, sister of gang leader Jack Warren, whom Mary believes is trying to make good in honest ventures. Bill falls in love with Mary and tries to get her away before the roundup of the bandits. The gang learns that Bill and Sanchez are government men and trick them into the rebel's headquarters, where they are sentenced to die as traitors. Bill gets away and, while the Border Patrol is rounding up the gang, rides to the Warrens' house. He meets Jack and orders him to surrender. Mary, trying to protect her, she thinks, innocent brother shoots Bill. Jack realizes his sister's predicament and confesses and surrenders to the barely-wounded Bill.
- Flash Carson is after the Conroy ranch. Having killed Conroy, he is now after the heir Billie Conroy. But there is another heir and it is Tom Manning who arrives posing as an outlaw. He gets accepted into Flash's gang where he hopes to learn the truth about Conroy's death.
