Jodi gets caught out in a deception of her own when a local cop, Dan, issues Kate with a speeding fine incurred whilst her car was on loan - to Jodi, with Luke driving. Kate is hurt by the betrayal and lack of trust. Jodi has confessed the real reason she didn't ask Kate to model was an unfortunate incident at a party once when Kate trod on a dress and ripped it - yet Kate trusted Jodi sufficiently to loan her her car, with that trust subsequently betrayed. During a dry run for the fashion parade, it is Jodi who accidentally steps on Stevie's dress and rips it, forcing her to seek Kate's help, the only one who can use the sewing machine. Kate reveals her insecurities about her looks compared with Jodi, who finally understands why it was so important that Kate not be overlooked as a model. Also during the parade rehearsal, events come to an explosive head when Nick feels compelled to come clean with Tess. The others go on to the Expo without them, and Nick and Tess have a long and honest talk about their situation and come to the painful conclusion that it is best they part for a while, in order that Nick can continue seeing Harrison without causing Tess further pain. They part in sorrow, with Nick moving back into the Boys Cottage, and Tess again the head of an all-female household. Returning from the Expo, the girls try to cheer up Tess with their good news - the fashion show was a hit, Kate has received a Young Farmer's Award for the sheep coats. But at the end of the day, it's Stevie's friendship for which Tess is grateful most of all, and we know that Tess will move on with grit and her ever-present optimism.

When Amanda tries to talk to her mother about trying to get tickets to the concert, she can barely get a word in because of her parents bickering over her father being unemployed. Busy lies continue as she tries to conceal the truth from Amanda and her parents about going to the concert with Troy. Amanda's mother surprises her with tickets to the concert. Busy and Amanda bump into each other at the concert and things get tense because Busy must face the music with all of her lies. Amanda's feelings are hurt and she lets Busy know that it will take some time to forgive her.
- Colonel Hudson holds an auction and since Aunt Peggy cannot get any more credit at Bernie's garage until she pays her bill she and David takes the soft job of driving for him. Hudson's son Duncan discovers that his young mother is having an affair with the family friend Nigel Parker. Parker gets seriously injured in an accident on his way home from a party at the Hudson estate, and when PC Walker conveys the bad news Duncan runs away. Gina and Phil think that Rob needs to get out some more and invite him and Gina's hairdresser Paula out on a double date. But the constables soon get other things on their minds when the entire police station is infected with nits. And they can only have come from PC Younger who has had lollipop duty at the school.
