- Jeff is hired by a wealthy middle-aged man who wants his missing young wife found. The client refuses to believe she has left him for a younger man but Jeff thinks otherwise. With Roscoe's help, she is quickly spotted but, before her husband can be contacted, a new situation has developed - she is being held for ransom.
- When an old law school friend of Jarrod comes to visit, a following Secret Service agent tells Jarrod that he is suspects his friend is a counterfeiter.

The writer also recalls his love for the man's girl and how revealing his feelings lead to an unhappy ending for all concerned.

- In Wickfield, Mass. (just outside Boston) a quiet clean-cut young man confesses to murdering his wife. A local attorney who is dying agrees to see the man and comes away feeling there is a more to the case than premeditated murder. He finds there are motives involving the man's "pure" mother and "tramp" wife. Helping this man brings peace to the dying attorney.
