- A part of Arctic explorers have their ship blocked in the ice, and we see them passing their time by hunting bears and whales. One day, one of them, crossing a bridge of ice that crumbles under his feet, is precipitated down a crevice, from which is with great difficulty rescued by means of ropes. Despite all their efforts they ultimately succumb for want of food, and the last, while endeavoring to revive his companions with brandy, is himself also overcome. We see his dream in an aurora borealis, and then the gradually falling snow covers him and his companions.
- An old professor, who is busily studying, is suddenly disagreeably annoyed by the smell of his cheese sandwich. With the help of his stereopticon he discovers millions of worms in it, and when he has the same experience with the water he wants to drink, he is so disgusted that he finishes his breakfast on dry bread.
- A bootblack absorbed in his client's paper blackens his white trousers.
- A magician, meeting a beggar, mysteriously produces a table set with food and gives him a good meal. He then changes, by a wave of his hand, his rags to fine clothes. Wishing to ascertain if the beggar is grateful, he poses in the park as a beggar himself. The transformed beggar, however, refusing to aid him, he makes himself known and turns him back again to an impoverished beggar.
- A postman delivering letters in a flat building, at the first flat is given a drink by the janitor. Proceeding upstairs, he enters the flat on the second floor, where an old gentleman hands him a bill. On the third floor, he obtains from a pretty servant girl a kiss, and then, going again upstairs, he sees through the keyhole of the flat on the fourth floor, a husband and wife quarreling. At the top he enters a studio, and hands a letter to one of the artists, which turns out only to be an unpaid bill. The artists seize him and fasten him to a rope fixed on a pulley, used by workmen for hoisting up bricks, and lower him to the bottom, struggling and dropping his letters.
- After admiring the most beautiful streets of Christiana and it's magnificent port, the excursionists board motor boats and are taken to the whalers anchored in Ramsdale Harbor. They are now in the open sea, surrounded by seagulls of every variety, and at a distance is seen the panorama of the town Picwick and the waterfalls of Stalheimfos. This picturesque excursion terminates with a visit to the Laplanders. The women and children collect the cod dried in the sun and pile them upon one another; then they drive in a herd of reindeer, while others are seen at their huts attending to their daily duties. We now arrive at Cape North, and the midnight sun is seen above the horizon casting its rays of light on the beautiful still waters.
- Two pretty little girls are taken for a walk with their grandfather. Arriving at the park, he encourages the children to play, while he starts to read the newspaper; but soon the girls get tired of playing and begin to tease the old man. They set fire to his paper, but though burning vividly, it suddenly expires. A young lady enters the playground and while the old gentleman is talking interestingly to her, the little tormentors fill his hat with water. They hold a rope to make him fall, but he evades them, and they are still more baffled when he puts on his hat without getting a drop of water on his clothes. Their last trick in which they try to pull the bench away from the old man, is also in vain, because instead of the grandfather, they find themselves on the ground. They give it up, and the kind old man leads the repentant children home to their parents.
- A botanist, carrying his scientific books, enters a flower shop which is kept by an old woman. While he is looking at the flowers and comparing them with his book, the old woman begins to water the plants he is examining. This confuses him very much, and in his efforts to escape the shower, he overturns a large number of hat boxes which a man is carrying on his shoulder. The latter, who sees his goods ruined, attacks the botanist, who seeks refuge in a cafe, overturning chairs and tables in his haste. A customer joins in with the hatter, and the unfortunate man receives some rough treatment.
- Two countrymen play a joke on their friend. The idea is to place an apple on the forehead and let it drop into a big funnel which is fastened on a belt. Of course the friend is sure to balance the apple, but the two villains fill the funnel with water and enjoy the bad joke very much.
- A magician produces from an immense egg a hen. This gives him six eggs, which, in breaking them, show living chicks. A good soup is made of the whole family, and while we think that all birds have perished, we are surprised to see the old hen reappear leading the little ones away.
- This picture opens in an office scene where two clerks are playing cards during the absence of their employer. On hearing him approach, they pretend to be hard at work, as he passes through giving them hasty instructions meanwhile. A lady calls and is ushered into the private office, where the employer proceeds to make love to her. The clerks peep over a screen which separates the two offices, and in their excitement lean heavily against it, precipitating themselves on the lady and their employer, who proceeds to throw them out.
- A hunter in search of game gets caught in a wolf trap. He suffers terrible pain and as he cannot succeed to free himself, he send his little boy to run for help. The little one starts on his errand at a lively pace, but soon meets some of his playmates and forgets the troubles of his father. After a while he reaches home, where he finds his brothers and sisters, but he does not mention his father's misfortune. He shows the children how to build an automobile and the fun is great when this is achieved. In the meantime, the hunter has been released by a peasant and, returning home, he finds his children in great enjoyment. The little chauffeur gets a severe thrashing for his forgetfulness.
- A little boy is stealing some melons, and in place of a large one he substitutes a balloon of the same size. When his parents come to get a melon for themselves they find only a balloon, which flies away before their astonished eyes and gets entangled in a tree. Being anxious to capture it, the old man holds a ladder, which his wife endeavors to climb, but in doing so she and the ladder fall to the ground. This very much amuses the young rogue, who has hidden himself nearby.
- Five chauffeurs, who seem to have a jolly good time, meet a poor cripple on the road. They invite him to jump on the machine, but the old man assures them that his way of traveling is much safer and quicker. So they proceed, but indeed, something goes wrong with the machine and everybody has to get out and try to repair. In the meantime, the cripple slowly but surely overtakes the chauffeurs, and after a hearty drink from the gasoline bottle, he offers himself to pull the car home, which is gladly accepted by the excursionists.
- Two [black men] are seated on a bench and one is relating a funny story to the other, and they enjoy it mutually. The story teller, however, emphasized his remarks with his fist on the anatomy of his listener, and judging from the wry faces he makes, the story teller's punches and jabs in the stomach of his companion leave the lasting impression. The more interesting the story becomes the more he thumps his companion, until patience ceases to be a virtue, and he grasps the story teller by the throat and almost chokes him before he can explain that "it was only a joke."
- Here is a typical country school scene and you cannot help sympathizing with the school master. He tries each boy on a certain question, but each in turn miss it, and one in particular is made to stand on a stool and a foolscap is placed on his head. The schoolmaster then leaves his pupils for a short while, when they engage in a game, forgetting meanwhile that he is likely to return at any moment. He finally does return, and, catching them in the act, proceeds to spank them, when one scholar more bold than the rest climbs upon his desk and pours a whole bucket of water over him.
- The landlord, who cannot get his bills paid by an artist boarder, starts to get some assistance from the authorities. But the boarder, with the help of a board, which he places between the neighbor's and his house, transfers all his belongings to his friend's room. The poor landlord, who tries to follow the escaped artist, ventures onto the board. He soon slips down and unfortunately lands on the head of a confectioner boy, who, after recovering from the shock, administers him a severe thrashing.
- In the sitting room of their luxurious home, we see husband, wife and baby, the latter playing with her big dog, Carlo. After the husband has left for his office, the baby is taken out by her nurse. The nurse turned to.the park, where she is met every day by her lover, a policeman. On the way she is accosted by a wicked-looking beggar woman who asks for alms, but receives a haughty refusal. A little later the nurse meets her lover, Absorbed in conversation with him, the nurse turns her back on her sleeping charge and thus does not notice the gypsy woman stealing the sleeping baby from the baby coach and making off as quickly as she can. The old gypsy has just arrived with the child in her filthy attic where she proceeds to divest the baby of its rich clothing. Then leaving the almost naked baby on a heap of rags, she retires to a corner and gloats greedily over the pretty clothing with which the loving mother has decked her baby but a few hours before. fancy work when the remorse-stricken nurse bursts into the room and confesses to the loss of the child. The dog, who is listening intently, and who seems to understand every word starts off to find his little playmate. We see the dog leave the house. Taking up the scent he runs to the park, and pretty soon reaches the place from which the baby was taken. He goes systematically along, passing a large monument, through wide streets, always unerringly following the scent until he comes to a small house in a narrow alley where he pushes open the door, running straight in. While still at work undressing the baby the gypsy is surprised to see a dog breaking into the room. The dog caresses the little child until the old woman, with shouts and drunken curses chases him from the garret. As quickly as he can the dog runs from the dirty slum through the various streets he has before traversed until at last he arrives again at his master's house. Making his way to the study where the master is sitting, trying in vain to think of a way to recover his stolen darling. The dog jumps up to him trying everything in his power to attract attention, barking, running to the door and back with such evident meaning that at last the master decides to follow. The faithful dog pushes open the door and starts to lead his master through the streets where we have seen him before until he reached the very house where the child is detained. He goes right up into the room where the child lies on a heap of straw. Quickly and fondly the father seizes the little baby and without stopping to pay any attention to the drunken old woman who tries to bar his way, he rushes home again. The grief-stricken mother, almost despairing of every seeing her child sees suddenly her husband enter with the lost one is his arms. The dog, full of joy of this happy gathering, licks the faces of master, mistress and little playmate.
- A youngster climbs in an apple tree, and, after shaking it well, starts to run away with the stolen fruit. The owner of the garden, a very stout man, tries to catch the lad, who escapes through a hole in the wall. The unfortunate proprietor tries to follow him, but gets stuck in the hole and is at the mercy of the young thief. The boy seizes a stick and administers some severe blows upon the helpless captive.
- The sun is shining again after a heavy rain. A grocer comes out of his shop in order to sweep his foot-way. Two old gossips meet each other and at once start chatting. The grocer, seeing this, lifts his sunshade with the handle of his broom, and pours the water which had accumulated there, over their heads.
- Off for the holidays they are-father, mother, and the twelve little ones. Unfortunately their pleasure trip is starting under bad circumstances, as the enormous family trunk comes in the way of the rather stout old lady. The cab which carries them to the station is too weak for the crowd, and, after a wheel has yielded, the station master sees them all arrive in great excitement. Being on the wrong side of the track, the train pulls out, and by a crane, the old lady is hoisted on a freight car.
- The husband, who keeps on disturbing the pretty cook while she is writing to her sweetheart, is covered with ink spots by the angry girl. Unfortunately, the wife enters the kitchen, and while he is making excuses the ink spots soon tell the story.
- Farmers try to steal kisses from women doing farm work.
- A woman offers a reward for her missing dog and a huge number of claimants shows up.
- A highwayman, stopping an automobile with his revolver, makes the party give up the jewels and money, and after emptying their gasoline tank, mounts his motorcycle and leaves his victims on the road. Another automobilist who passes is informed of the robbery, and as mounted police, and at once they start in pursuit of the fugitive. They surprise him at an inn, but he overpowers the gendarme and escapes. Suddenly his wheel gives out and he has to hide in the bushes. The followers arrive and while they look for him, he jumps on the automobile and forces the chauffeur to speed away. A second gendarme, who is equipped with a portable telephone, informs the police force of the next village, and when the fugitive sees a rope across the road, he jumps from the automobile and manages to cross the nearby river. But, being attacked by several policemen, he has to fight for his life, being finally captured and carried away.
