As a young Soviet student in 1978, Ieva could not have predicted that a holiday visit to her father, Imants Lesinskis, then working in the Soviet mission at the United Nations in New York City, would irreversibly split her life in two. Entangled in a dark spy game, Ieva is forced to leave her former life behind, never to see her mother or her homeland of Latvia again. Pulling back the curtain on the shady behind-the-scenes world of the Cold War, this film tells a daughter's dramatic story of her double-agent father, exploring their relationship against the backdrop of events which have their roots over four decades ago. In order to find herself and understand the game she was part of, Ieva sets out on a journey to the past, confronting family secrets, lies and betrayal.

Based on the true story of Melanija Vanaga, this film is a brutally realistic and terrifying account of the mass deportation of residents of Soviet-occupied Latvia that took place in June 1941.

Three young men head to an isolated country house to shoot a film that they hope will bring them fame. They have no experience, but possess the will to change their lives. They make various attempts, but none seem to work. The team comes to a creative impasse, but the stakes are too high to give up. In hopes of drawing out their talents, they spend more and more time chipping away at each other. Previously hidden character traits come to light further complicating their relationship and the making of the film. Soon it's each man for himself. Just when the experiment seems utterly failed, one of them is discovered dead. It's not clear whether it's accidental, suicide or murder, but a real body in the scene satisfies - this could be the start of The Film.

The Eglitis family have settled down for the summer at the manor. Viktors, having received a generous royalty, comes up with the idea that a boarding house should be set up in the manor for a culturally fulfilling holiday in the countryside. Although the idea is not very well received, Viktors enthusiastically starts planning the opening celebrations. Meanwhile, Anslavs, with the help of the old servants, tries to furnish the rooms and arrange everything necessary for the guests. The tenant and his wife are also preparing to benefit from the visitors. When a misunderstanding makes it seem that the opening celebrations are not meant to be, Arnitis unexpectedly takes over the preparations, ready to offer the city's socialites the highest level of service.
