Set in modern day San Diego, this reality-television interpretation of Anton Chekhov's "The Seagull" chronicles the interwoven lives of an elite Hollywood family, as they navigate how to chase their romantic and artistic pursuits.

Two eager and very self-unaware film students unite to create their very first thesis film with a budget of zero dollars and a dream of winning big at Cannes. They hire a team of non-union actors who are promised a copy of their footage, their name in the credits, and nothing else, as well as a camera crew to help film behind-the-scenes footage of what is sure to become an American classic.

A young playwright, Konstantin, prepares to show his mother the play he wrote starring his girlfriend, Nina.

After the failed play, Nina spends more time apart from Konstantin, until he surprises her with a gift of a dead seagull. Trigorin, expecting to leave that night with Arkadina, has one last conversation alone with Nina.

After her son's failed suicide attempt, Arkadina has decided it would be best for her and Trigorin to leave the estate. Before he departs, Nina gifts Trigorin a medallion with a hidden message.

Two years after Arkadina sent a cease and desist order to the documentary crew halting production, she has granted the film crew permission to return for a special Live TV Event, which is interrupted by an unplanned visitor.
