- This may be the last migration for Tundup, the end of his nomadic life on the Himalayan highlands. When the merchants arrive, Tundup and his people will have to choose: sell their herd, abandon their lands and go to town like so many before them, or stay in Karnak. Where will they be happiest? At 4,500 meters above sea level, in a lunar setting where the sky blends with the vastness of minerals, director Marianne Chaud filmed the movements of these last nomads. Immersed in their community for many months, speaking their language, she placed her camera as close as possible to their voices and gestures, offering viewers encounters of rare intimacy. As much as the splendor of the landscapes, the extreme harshness of the living conditions or the emotion shared with these nomads, it is this proximity that creates the magic of the film.
