- Eigil, a boy of seven years old, lives with his father, mother and little sister on a farm. When Uncle Otto visits and his father starts speaking to him in proverbs, Eigil wonders what's going on. What is a flurry for instance? Eigil wonders what it might look like. To his big surprise, the next day he meets one, a creature with one leg and one toe. He decides never to get rid of it.
- Ninna lives with her son Dennis in Præstø, Denmark, where she also works at the local barbecue. As Dennis turns 18 close to Christmas, Ninna throws a surprise party for him. Most surprised however, is Ninna herself, because in the midst of all the glory Dennis announces that he has found his own apartment and intends to move out from his childhood home. Ninna is now thrown into a major crisis, with December turning into a month in hell. The prospect of having to watch her son grow up and start living his own life is unmanageable, and she takes every conceivable and unimaginable means to save Christmas, the feast of hearts, and get her son home.
- Hans and Poul sail a two-man freighter from Copenhagen to the province. Somewhat impractical, they are both in love with Margit, and an unhappy Hans is left when she chooses Poul. But on the sleepless wedding night, Hans hears a splash, and out of the water he fishes the young Kristiane with a tragic past.
- Documentary about a rare picture book made by 'Hans Christian Andersen (I)' and Adolf Drewsen. Drewsen's grand-daughter Christine Stampe was given the book in 1859 on her 3 year-old birthday, and the book was later passed to Alette Bardenfleth who tells about it in the documentary.
- Television special about one of Denmark's small cities, Præstø. And this day is a most special day for the city. H.M. Queen Margrethe of Denmark and Prins Henrik are on official visit.
- The class arrive at the castle. Instead of being happy everyone is arguing. Viola finds an old photo album. A photo drops from the album, which gives Magnus another lead to who may be the evil Santa.
- Viola tell Magnus all about why she chose to be the evil Santa, and after hearing her story, they decide to bury the evidence.
